This weekend, I'm moving out of the place my ex and I called home for nearly 4 years.
Am I sad?
You know...I thought I would be, but I'm not.
I'm eager to start fresh somewhere I can call my own.
I will finally feel released of my past.
This place holds a lot of memories, but the last memories I have are not good ones.
I'm ready for this move.
I need this.
Goodbye Jefferson Street.

Moving on...
A good friend of mine asked me for advice about moving on and dating again for her friend who is going through a divorce...
My advice...
- take your time
- don't rush into trying to find "love" again
- be patient
- be open
- it's important to piece your heart back together before you allow yourself to let someone in again
- don't settle....you're allowed to be "picky"...look for those red flags when dating
- always follow your heart, even if your head tells you something different...trust your instincts
- only that person will know when he/she is ready to date again
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
How are you supposed to move forward, if everyone keeps telling you that they think you are or aren't "ready"?
You may never be "ready" if everyone continues to tell you when they think you will be. This only reminds you of your past failed relationship.
This can hold you back from moving on with your life.
There is no time frame to heal a broken heart.
It amazes me that some people think they know other people better than they know themselves.
Of course, moving on with your life after heartbreak takes time, but everyone heals differently.
Don't judge.
Don't assume.
Be open to letting that person heal, learn and grow from their experience.

Love: to think or feel
In love, try not to privilege logic at the expense of feelings; to submit everything to reason is the worst error you could commit.
This was from my horoscope today. I thought it was very interesting and true. Many people focus a lot of their energy on the logic of love, relationships and happiness and ignore what they are feeling.
Love is not logical, it's a feeling.
Sometimes you just have to listen to your heart and forget about what your head is telling you. Dive right in.
Love is a risk you have to be willing to take. It's not easy. It's messy.
But it can be the best "mess" you'll ever experience.
In love...should you think or feel?

Read between the lines
I've never been able to "read between the lines" successfully and confidently.
For someone who overanalyzes everything little thing in life, you'd think I could come up with something.
I can't read minds.
I need clear signs.
Overanalyzing can lead to stress and freaking out.
A million thoughts run through your mind...the positives...the negatives...and all the shoulda, coulda, wouldas.
I don't do the whole "read between the lines" thing.
Communication please.

The Breakfast Taco Phenomenon
A good friend of mine shared this with me yesterday...

The Male Ego
A friend of mine reminded me the other day that men have "fragile egos"
That's interesting....because women have fragile hearts.
What a big difference...
Men care more about their ego and women care more about their heart.
Definition of ego:
- egotism; conceit; self-importance: Her ego becomes more unbearable each day.
- self-esteem or self-image; feelings: Your criticism wounded his ego.
Definition of heart:
- the center of the total personality, esp. with reference to intuition, feeling, or emotion: In your heart you know I'm an honest man.
- the center of emotion, esp. as contrasted to the head as the center of the intellect: His head told him not to fall in love, but his heart had the final say.
- capacity for sympathy; feeling; affection: His heart moved him to help the needy.
- spirit, courage, or enthusiasm: His heart sank when he walked into the room and saw their gloomy faces.
While (some) men are out caring about their ego and what others think, women are out there trying as hard as hell to protect their hearts from being broken.
The difference: women are cautious and men are suspicious.

Red Flags
Red flags are the warning signs that appear in a friendship, a relationship or a situation.
How do you read these red flags?
I've been known to ignore them...bad habit.
I always want to believe the best in people.
I never want to admit that someone is wrong for me or something isn't right.
I'm totally that girl who wants her happily ever after in life.
Even in friendships red flags can go up.
A one-sided friendship, a manipulative friendship, or a distant friendship.
I've experienced all of these...in both friendships and relationships.
It's always funny how friends and family try to warn you or point out these "red flags", but we choose to ignore them until it's too late...
How do you stop from repeating past mistakes?
Pick up on those red flags someone has told me.
But do you go your whole life waiting for those red flags to appear? Constantly comparing your past to the present?
How are you supposed to move forward if you're always looking backward?
I'm young and still learning.
No one is perfect, and I've come to realize and understand that.
Red flags or not, the one thing you can rely on is your instinct.
Trust your instinct and your heart.
If you make a few mistakes and misjudge a person, situation or relationship along the way...learn from it, forgive yourself and move on.
You never know...some red flags might actually be "green flags"...

This Woman Needs...
I love this song...it was my inspiration for today's blog entry.
What does this woman need?
I'm a simple woman.
To be happy.
I want life to be a little less complicated. I know it will never be easy.
To be loved.
True love is a rare and beautiful thing.
I hope to experience unconditional love with the one God intended for me to spend my life with.
To feel free.
Released of the past, mistakes and regrets.
No one is perfect. Nothing in life is perfect.
It's those imperfections that help us grow and move forward.
Marilyn Monroe said it best...
I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you learn to appreciate them when they're right. You believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself...and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Some amazing women....
Lucille Ball...
"Ability is of little account without opportunity."
"I have an everyday religion that works for me. Love yourself first, and everything else falls into line."
"I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done."
"In life, all good things come hard, but wisdom is the hardest to come by."
"The secret of staying young is to live honestly, eat slowly, and lie about your age."
Mary Tyler Moore...
"Take chances, make mistakes. That's how you grow. Pain nourishes your courage. You have to fail in order to practice being brave."
"Sometimes you have to get to know someone really well to realize you're really strangers."
"You can't be brave if you've only had wonderful things happen to you."
Jennifer Aniston...
"A relationship isn't going to make me survive. It's the cherry on top."
"Don't rely on men but don't shun them either."
"I always say don't make plans, make options."
"I love that feeling of being in love, the effect of having butterflies when you wake up in the morning. That is special."
"The best smell in the world is that man that you love."
"The greater your capacity to love, the greater your capacity to feel the pain."
"There are no regrets in life, just lessons."
"True love brings up everything - you're allowing a mirror to be held up to you daily."
"When someone follows you all the way to the shop and watches you buy toilet roll, you know your life has changed."
Reese Whitherspoon...
"Many people worry so much about managing their careers, but rarely spend half that much energy managing their LIVES. I want to make my life, not just my job, the best it can be. The rest will work itself out."
"I think women are natural caretakers. They take care of everybody. They take care of their husbands and their kids and their dogs, and don't spend a lot of time just getting back and taking time out."
Kate Hudson...
"Honesty will never break you."
Marilyn Monroe...
"Before marriage, a girl has to make love to a man to hold him. After marriage, she has to hold him to make love to him."
"I don't know who invented high heels, but all women owe him a lot."
"I don't mind living in a man's world as long as I can be a woman in it."
"It's often just enough to be with someone. I don't need to touch them. Not even talk. A feeling passes between you both. You're not alone."

New Soul
I'm a new soul
I came to this strange world
Hoping I could learn a bit about how to give and take
But since I came here
Felt the joy and the fear
Finding myself making every possible mistake
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la...
I'm a young soul in this very strange world
Hoping I could learn a bit bout what is true and fake.
But why all this hate?
Try to communicate
Finding trust and love is not always easy to make.
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la...

Let go and let God...
Eventually you have to stop looking back in the rear view mirror.
Let go of old memories and acquaintances.
A hurtful past can make you miserable or make you stronger.
It's your choice.
Choose you and move forward.
Let go and let God.
Let go of old memories and acquaintances.
A hurtful past can make you miserable or make you stronger.
It's your choice.
Choose you and move forward.
Let go and let God.
Realize...
I Love this song....
Take time to realize
Oh-oh I'm on your side
didn't I, didn't I tell you.
Take time to realize
This all can pass you by...Didn't I tell you
But I can't spell it out for you,
no its never gonna be that simple
no I can't spell it out for you.
If you just realized what I just realized
then we'd be perfect for each other
then we'd never find another
Just realized what I just realized
we'd never have to wonder if
we missed out on each other now...
Take time to realize
Oh-oh I'm on your side
didn't I, didn't I tell you.

Random Thoughts
* My momma is my hero.
* I like to eat "bad" foods when I'm sad.
* When I miss my friends back in MI, I watch the "Sex and the City" movie.
* I've broken hearts that I didn't mean to.
* I have some of the best friends a girl could ask for.
* This has been the most challenging year of my life. I'm sure I will face many more challenges, but I could sure use a break, God.
* "Because I Said So" is my go-to movie when I miss my momma.
* I pray more now than I ever have before. I guess tough times can bring you closer to God.
* I miss my brothers, Bill & Cody, like crazy and wish we were little kids again.
* I'm still trying to piece my heart back together.
* My Sundays usually consist of church, a phone call with my dad, Starbucks, and snuggling on the couch.
* I wish I were closer to a few of my old friends.
* I am not at all where I thought I'd be in life right now. I guess you really can't "plan" everything out.
* I try to tell the people I care most about that I love them every day....you never know when you'll see them again.
* I believe in God, "Southern hospitality," forgiveness, fate, karma and head-over-heels love.
* Nora Jones, Acqua di Gio, Vanilla candles, black pearls, "That's All", and "50 First Dates" still make me really sad.
* My students are the best. I couldn't ask for a better group. They keep me motivated, optimistic and on my toes.
* I don't believe in holding grudges - life is too short.
* Some of my closest friends are my co-workers. They have really been there for me this year. I love my job that much more because of them.
* First impressions are everything.
* I am a simple girl who wants simple things in life: to be married to my best friend, have children, a home, a job that I love, and to live in the South.
* I'm still waiting to be swept off my feet...I am confident that kind of love still exists in the world.
* I listen to music every day. All kinds for every mood, emotion and kind of day I'm having.
* Holding hands is so romantic.
* I love the smell of the lake, the sun on my skin, and the sand between my toes - it's the best feeling, next to being in love.
