my "fscore"

I saw this on a friend's blog and thought I'd check it out (she and I had the same results).
check out: http://sallyhogshead.com/fscoreq1/ for your results. How are YOU fascinating?

Below are my results. Pretty interesting....

YOUR PRIMARY TRIGGER: LUST

So lust is your primary trigger. That means you draw people closer with a warm and open style of interaction. You’re expressive with ideas, communicate well in person, and probably have a strong creative streak. Even when you mask your emotions, you feel passionately about your opinions.

You’re intuitive with information, often making decisions based on gut instinct rather than cold intellect. While other personality types prefer facts, you’re more attuned to the nuances of attitude, design, and a certain indefinable je ne sais quoi.

Lust is a powerful form of influence because it creates irresistible messages that overcome rational resistance. When you dial up your primary trigger, you have the ability to create messages that are extremely difficult to ignore.

You’re remarkably talented in creating messages that lead to a powerful intellectual, physical, and emotional response. For instance, you like to share experiences with others, and in conversation, you draw people closer with body language and eye contact.

By applying these natural strengths to your work, you can build warmer relationships and more trusting dialogue. And by applying to your ideas, you can create messages make people say, “I want that now!”

YOUR SECONDARY TRIGGER: MYSTIQUE

If mystique is your secondary trigger, you’re intriguing. Very. You make people curious to learn more, because they want to find out what makes you tick. You reveal personal information carefully, if at all.
Mystique sparks an intense desire to know more, hinting at possibilities without putting it all on the table. By activating this trigger, you entice people to seek out more about your message.

Because you reveal so little, people might have trouble knowing what you’re thinking and feeling, which can come across as cold. You might benefit from sharing your ideas more openly, and giving people more ways to engage with you. And, along the way, you’ll want to avoid sneakiness or mind games.

Curious about your natural ability to make others curious? Mystique is delicate balance to be sure, but once achieved, you’re nothing short of mesmerizing.

YOUR DORMANT TRIGGER: ALARM

Laid-back and easygoing, you probably make friends easily, and make others comfortable. Your personality is probably relying more on trust or lust as main triggers, rather than the urgency and focus of alarm.
On the downside, without the presence of alarm in your personal brand, it’s quite possible you’re coming across as a bit wishy-washy. A judiciously zest of alarm adds a sense of urgency to your requests. In FASCINATE, you’ll learn how to intelligently apply alarm, motivating others sit up and take notice now.

true admiration

There are people in my life I truly admire. I am nowhere near as brave or as motivated as them. I'd like to be. It reminds me to live my dreams and to never settle again.

Christmas cards and letters from friends and family displaying pictures of their beautiful children and writing about the wonderful things happening in their lives and marriages have been flooding my mailbox. I am happy for them. I envy them. I admire them. What they have is what I've always wanted.

When my life was suddenly turned upside down last year, it forced me to reevaluate. I learned that yes, I want to be a mother and a wife, but there are many other things that I haven't achieved yet that I want to accomplish.

While I am reminded by friends and family that life does pause for you to go and live an adventurous life - parenthood can't be put on the back burner...forever (at least not for a woman), I realize that there are things in my life I need and want to do first (next).

Today I received a different Christmas letter from a friend. Rather than being about babies, weddings, or buying a house, it was about plans for a Christmas adventure - traveling, whale watching, and tent-camping on the beach. I thought, "Wow! I admire him." This was a different admiration than I have for those people who are married and expecting or with children.

How does someone (a woman) combine both dreams for life? I don't know....yet, but I plan to do it.

are you married?

Yesterday, I met with a H.S. senior female for an interview.

She saw the pictures in my office on my desk and asked, "Oh, is this your family?" -- pointing at a picture of me and my three brothers: Marky, Bill, and Cody, taken at my engagement party 3.5 years ago.

I answered, "Yes, those are three of my brothers."

I don't know what prompted her to ask the next questions, but...

"Do you have any kids? Are you married?"

High School students are so innocent and I know she was simply trying to make conversation (the girl was nervous).

My heart stopped for a second. I thought, how do I answer this?

"Ummm, nope, no kids...not married yet."

Awkward...for me -- this girl had no clue.

She replied, "Yeah, well...you're young still."

Guardrails...

This last Sunday's service was truly inspiring.

The Pastor shared a story about a young girl and her journey without guardrails in her life.

The series we have been covering in Church has been about the guardrails we all need in our lives.

Guardrails to protect us from bad decisions, the wrong path, etc.

I'm not going to lie, I wasn't really sure how I felt about this "theme" in this series.

It wasn't until this last Sunday (the last day of the series) that I really understood.

A story about a troubled girl traveling down a rocky path in life and making every "bad" and "wrong" decision she could possibly make.

Drugs, sex, and bad influences in her life led her to jail, the hospital, and to a half-way house.

Her life was spinning out of control.

"Gracepoint saved my life" were her words that brought tears to my eyes.

In the middle of everyone around me, singing after this eye-opening story, I broke down.

Hearing this story reminded me of a family member who has led a very similar troubled life.

Every time I thought her life was heading in a positive direction, she forgot about guardrails and was led astray.

I pray every day that something or someone will save her.

hidden behind texts

Texting: a new form of communication in today's society.

It has also become the new way of saying what is on your mind without saying it in person...face-to-face.

Why are some of us so much braver to say the things we really want to say to someone through a text message?

Is saying "I care about you" easier to share in a text?

On the flip side, texting can allow someone to hide their true feelings.

It is easier to avoid conflict or the questions in your heart?

Texting seems to have replaced email.

While emails are still used for a variety of reasons, even including those mentioned above.

Why is it so difficult for people to communicate in person anymore?

During my interviews for my marriage paper for graduate school, communication is one thing every person mentioned as an important key factor in a marriage (and any relationship).

Instead of sending that text, I challenge you to call that person.

I challenge you to call and say "I miss you" or "I love you", or make plans to meet that person for coffee to tell them how you feel, rather than texting it.

Stop hiding behind your texts and say what you really want to say.

God's delays are not God's denials. - 100.8

better together

I just love this song. It's the perfect song for the way I'm feeling today. Listening to it brings a smile to my face and cheers me up...thinking of the happy moments in my life.

What's "right"?

You only get one life to live, so live it to the fullest, people say.

Every day we are faced with decisions and questions....big and small.

How do you know you're making the "right" decisions? Giving the "right" answers?

People say to not live a life of regret....

...to not give up on your dreams...your heart, but I still ask the same question...

What's "right"?

I look to God to give me direction.

Mixed messages and feelings can sometimes cause us to take different directions..."bad" directions.

Will we look back and regret those decisions?

Will we regret doing the things we want to do right here, right now?

Skip the regret and live your life the way you want.

Forget trying to figure out what's "right".

Live in the moment.

Quote (from a friend's blog): "There's the future, and there's the past and the only thing that we truly have are those shining moments in between where one crosses over into the other."

Explore. Dream. Discover.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the things you did. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. -Mark Twain

My little sis is getting married!

That's right, little Amanda, my step-sis, is getting married.

Her boyfriend, Kurt, popped the question Sunday, Nov 7.

As I was heading into the library to work on grad school papers, I received a text message from her saying Kurt proposed. Ahhh!

She called me last night saying she got her dress.

They are hoping to get married this Christmas. Kurt is finishing up bootcamp with the Air Force right now.

I can't believe it...my little sis is growing up...and so fast. :(

Congrats to her and Kurt!

Mean

Halloween is a time of fun, candy and dressing up as something different or creative.

This year I was Tinkerbell.

Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky were other costumes people chose to wear this year.

These costumes are fitting for all three people in this particular case.

Tinkerbell, innocent and naive.

The other two, guilty and proud.

I didn't know people enjoyed flaunting their infidelity.

I am totally disgusted and offended.

A joke and a slap in the face for me.

Ouch.

All We Ever Do Is Say Goodbye

It's just a John Mayer week, I guess....

"I'm going to do the best I can do, 'cause I'm the best when I'm with you"

Dare to....

Dare to look foolish. The real fools are those who never attempt anything.

Dare to make mistakes. They are the best teachers you will ever know.

Dare to take action. There’s a risk you may fail. Yet if you take no action failure is a certainty.

Dare to be fully alive.

Dare to speak your mind.

Dare to enjoy the beauty of the world.

Dare to make a difference.

Dare to love.

Dare to be the person you know you can be.

Dare to expect the best, with your words and actions. You’ll usually get it.

Dare to do what is right rather than what is convenient or expedient. It will truly make a difference in the way you see yourself, and the way others see you. You’re here, with this magnificent day available to you.

Dare to make it the best you can.

Comfortable...

One of my favorite John Mayer songs...

2 little girls now women....

I first met my friend, Carrie, when we were standing at the bus stop. The good old Middle School days.

She and I have remained good friends ever since. It doesn't matter how much time passes between visits, we are always able to pick up right where we left off.

Carrie has become one of my closest and best friends.

We have grown up together....from birthday parties, prom, boyfriends, bridal showers, weddings, and now baby showers, we have remained very close.

Last weekend was her baby shower, and I asked her,

"Where has the time gone? Just yesterday, we were two awkward junior high girls and now you're going to be a mother and have a daughter of your own."

Even though we are not biological sisters, I will always consider her my older sister...someone I truly admire and is always there for me.

Love you.

Starbucks date with Auntie Nikki

Last weekend I had a little visit with my newest nephew, Camden, and the mama.

Women love their coffee, so we met at Starbucks for a brief visit.

He makes me so incredibly happy.

I can almost imagine how new mothers feel when their child is born and they feel this instant love for them.

growing in your faith

I think one of the biggest steps a couple can make is attending Church together.

There is something to be said about two people growing in their faith...together.

I watch older couples holding hands singing hymns...

Men with their arms around their wives/girlfriends during sermons...

Hugs and gentle kisses shared between couples when asked to greet those around.

It makes my heart melt to see all of this love and faith shared between two people.

To me, Church is a big step in a relationship.

It is like meeting the parents.

It is something about singing together, praying together, and discussing the sermon after Church together on a Sunday afternoon over lunch that creates a bond like no other in a relationship.

You get to know the other person on another level.

It is important to me to grow in my faith with my significant other.

choose to get back up

On a quest to start a new life, you will face a lot of challenges and uphill battles that will try to bring you down. Fears will arise that will make you stumble and the only way to stop them is to face them. As a friend, I would like you to know life will knock us down, but we can choose to get back up. Remember to always be strong...root that in your heart. -Chemirmir

the little moments in life

"I'd rather fold laundry with her than go to the bar with the guys."

Enjoy those little every day life moments with your significant other.

This is just one thing I have learned from my interviews for my final paper about marriage.

I have experienced some very insightful and interesting interviews, but my aunt and uncle's interviews yesterday have been 2 of the most inspiring.

They are one couple I truly admire. They have been married for 18 years and together for 24 years.

It is their open and constant communication with each other and their friendship that has helped their marriage be successful.

Dream big dreams...

There is always time
Does it seem that there's not enough time? The fact is, at the moment, there is nothing other than now.

Time is something you look back upon or imagine moving through. Now is what you have to work with.

No matter how long you think it might take, what matters is what you are doing about it right now. Now is when you can make the effort, and now is when you can have an influence.

Everything that has ever been accomplished has been done by making use of a succession of present moments. You have just as much time as everyone else because everyone has this same moment right now.

Instead of putting off the effort, now is your opportunity to make it real and to make it happen. By making full use of this present moment, you make the next one more valuable.

Dream big dreams, then jump right in and live those dreams. There is always time, and it is always now.

"Trouble" - Ray Lamontagne

I absolutely love this song.

I heard it again this morning on Pandora and it made me think about the interviews I have been conducting for my Marriage & Sexuality grad class final paper.

I'm writing about the qualities of a successful marriage. Ironic, since mine was not successful. Nonetheless, it has been extremely helpful for me...to learn, heal and move forward. I have really enjoyed the insightful feedback friends and family have shared with me over the last two weeks. I am more than willing to share my final paper with those who are interested.

This particular song came to mind regarding my paper, because of a message I received today from a friend. This person wanted to share just a little bit more regarding his marriage and the potential he realized in himself after meeting his wife. It made my heart melt.

"I got married because she saw potential in me that I was blind to. I stay married, because she gives me the opportunity to be the best version of myself. In turn, I challenge her to be the best version of herself and experience fulfillment seeing her embrace it."

A few lines from the song....

I've been saved...
by a woman
She won't let me go
She won't let me go now

She's good to me now
She gave me love and affection

I Said I love her
Yes I love her

Going Private

So, I have decided to make my blog private to only those I invite. I am taking a cue from a friend of mine who has done the same with her own blog. Because I post some personal things, I figure this is probably best.

I look forward to continuing to share my life with my close friends and family through my writing.

Have a great Halloween weekend!

These Are The Days

I love this song and Jamie Cullum.

I have great memories with this song. Although those memories include him, it still makes me smile as I think back to the good days...the happy days we had together.

These are the days that bring new meaning
I feel the stillness of the sun and I feel fine
Sometimes when the nights are closing early
I remember you and I start to smile
Even though now you don't want to know me
I get on by, and I go the extra mile

I thought you said our love would last forever
Believing that the tears would end for good
I told you that we'd get through any weather
Maybe that didn't work out
But we did the best we could

These are the days that bring new meaning
I feel the stillness of the sun and I feel fine

This song will always take me back to the fall of 2005 and make me smile.

But now, these are the days I celebrate and cherish...the here and the now. I am more than fine. I am happy.

Love, Marriage & Stinking Thinking

So, I was flipping through the channels on TV and came across a Christian talk show about love and marriage.

It was a show where a Pastor, Mark Gungor, gives advice about marriage.

I thought, what the hey, I'll watch it. It'll be good research for my Marriage & Sexuality grad class final paper about the qualities of a successful marriage.

It turned out to be very interesting....and funny.

I loved the Pastor. He was great. His sermons could definitely hold my attention in church. It was educational and helpful...even in my own life.

Here are some of the highlights of the things I found most interesting.....

1. "Sex while dating makes you dumb - it clouds your mind...your judgement." Hence the reason why many marriages suffer after only a few months/less than a year, b/c the couple didn't really know each other. They think they are "in Hell."

2. "Sex is like the novocaine of marriage (LOL)....it helps hold a marriage together. Where as sex while dating can destroy your relationship."

3. "Sex creates an invisible bond when you're dating."

4. "Dating is your time to make a judgement call - is this the person I will/could marry?"

5. "Dating is a time of discovery - everything is fair game. Ask all the questions you want...you want to know what you're getting into before you get married." Why wait until you're married to be brave enough to ask the tough questions? "You should be looking at everything." "Date intelligently" - don't be embarrassed to ask your questions.

6. "He doesn't want to marry you, but he wants to have sex with you? Run.''

7. "The greatest gift a woman can give to a man is her body. The greatest gift a man can give to a woman is his freedom. If he isn't willing to give you his gift, then don't give him yours. Don't settle."

8. A real man honors his commitment to his wife and children.

9. "Talk about your concerns in your relationship when you're dating (i.e. porn), don't wait until you're engaged or married to address them."

10. "If he's unwilling to share something with you that you ask about, and replies with "you can't control me" or "it's none of your business, we're not married" - walk away. He's hiding something. Don't settle.

While of course, I know not everyone will agree with the statements made above from the show, but I just wanted to point out some of the things the Pastor mentioned that made me giggle and seriously think about.

If this has sparked your interest or you want to check it out further.....

Also, one of his shows on Youtube:

Liar Liar

I will never understand why men feel the need to go after other women when they are married.

Brett Farve definitely let me down when he admitted to NFL officials about the voicemails he left on report, Jennifer Sterger's phone.

So sad.

Are there any good, decent men left out there?

A friend of mine posted on Facebook about men and how they don't like women's "drama." But if they don't like women and their "drama", then why do they feel the need to be involved with more than one woman?

When I heard that about Brett Farve, my heart broke for his wife.

I know how upset and disappointed she is feeling right now.

Brett has totally embarrassed his wife with his ridiculous and heartless actions.

If you're married (or in a relationship) and you're thinking about or sneaking around with another woman, then you shouldn't be in a relationship.

If you want out, just say so....

How Sweet It Is

Walk by faith, not by sight. [2 Corinthians 5:7]

Friends & Judy Blume

“We are friends for life. When we’re together the years fall away. Isn’t that what matters? To have someone who can remember with you? To have someone who remembers how far you’ve come?” – Judy Blume

I love this quote.

Many of my closest friends live out of state...Michigan, Virginia, Kentucky, Texas, and New York.

Even though I don't see these girls every day or every month, they still have a special place in my heart.

I admire them and value our friendship very much.

skin deep

True beauty is only skin deep.

It is not about big boobs...

...the perfect nose...

...a flat stomach....

...sculpted long legs....

....or weighing 110 lbs....

These things are what the media has put into our heads as acceptable beauty.

Women are self-conscious because of this....even models.

Crazy diets and obsessive workouts can lead to health problems for women.

Men and their opinions about our looks is also extremely critical for us.

If we catch our man checking out another woman, it can be crushing to our self-esteem.

Men, love your woman...give her your complete love and commitment.

Tell her she's beautiful every day, even if she's wearing sweats, has no make-up on and her hair's a total mess.

It will mean the absolute world to her (not to mention get you major brownie points).

Women appreciate a man who gives her his full attention in a room full of people, especially other women.

Here's to...

Here's to jumping in with both feet.

Here's to taking risks and hoping they pay off.

Here's to love, honesty and happiness.

Here's to being young, and most importantly...

Here's to living with no regrets.

Never Settle

Never settle for anything less than you deserve.

We often hear this, but do we really listen?

We settle on jobs that don't really make us happy...

We settle on a house/apt that is "eh, ok"...

We settle for significant others we don't really love or maybe don't see a future with...

We settle for a cheaper car that doesn't quite have all the features we wanted...

Why?

In the past, I settled for mediocre things in life.

I refuse to do that again.

Too often, I fought for the ok in life and not for the best that I could have.

Life is too short to settle. Go after what you deserve.

Go ahead. Jump in. Embrace. Believe. Trust. Enjoy.

Tartan High Heels

I LOVE these heels!

I think a good pair of shoes really sets your attitude for the day. I woke up with a smile on my face and have been in the best mood all day. Busy day, but a great one.

These heels are my favorite, because they remind me of two things:

1) my Scottish roots
2) my alma mater, Alma College

I am looking forward to Alma's homecoming this weekend. These heels really jump-started my Scottish alma mater weekend a couple days early. I am so excited to go back and visit. I am looking forward to....

- my sorority, Phi Sigma Sigma
- catching up with old friends & professors
- Pizza Sam's
- Petticoat breakfast
- Scottish kilts
- the town (I love it)
- spending time with my family

failure

"Failure is not an end, it is a springboard into an opportunity to try again" (R.T.)

I borrowed this quote from one of my students. He is wise beyond his years and has such a good head on his shoulders. I truly admire him and his determination in life.

believe

If you dare to believe the invisible, God will do the impossible. ~Osteen

cherish each and every moment...

Life can be taken from you in a minute so it's very important to cherish each and every moment. Say I love you when you are given the chance and give a hug to someone in need. Even when your enemies try and bring you down, kill them with a smile and the sincerest of kindness. Anger is not worth fighting for.

I certainly needed this yesterday. Thanks S.J.Wilson for posting.

In life, you will come across people who want to bring you down. I struggle with this as I try to make everyone happy and I hate when people are upset with me or don't like me.

But, that is life. You won't be friends with everyone you meet.

I have learned that not everyone's morals, values, likes/dislikes, interests and personalities are exactly like mine.

I know and believe that I am a kind person...a good person...and I refuse to let negative and mean people bring me down.

For those I love and care about will receive my attention and energy.

Like the quote states, "anger is not worth fighting for..." I have forgiven those who have done me wrong and I am no longer angry. I am at peace with my life and who I am.

today...

Today I realized I haven't written anything in awhile directly from me. It has been a lot of quotes and songs. I have a tendency to do that when I have a lot on my mind, but don't know how to put everything into words. So, today, it's just me.

Today was extremely busy. Work at this time...in the fall...is exhausting. Here's a fun pic from my most recent travels for work....

Yesterday I was driving through southern Indiana on my way to Cincinnati, OH.

My immediate thoughts seeing this pick-up truck with a huge pumpkin in the back were...

They sure do grow 'em big down here in southern Indiana. And...this was quite the pumpkin pickin' adventure.

I was in the car for probably a total of 10 hours yesterday. Yikes. I was crabby and exhausted by the time I got home last night. But I do enjoy driving in the car alone sometimes. It gives me time to think, sing at the top of my lungs, check out new scenery, and catch up with family and friends on the phone.

I thought about what I'm going to do with my life. Isn't that what everyone ponders about when driving alone in the car? :)

What are my plans after I finish my masters? Where would I like to live? Where would I like to work? When will I finish my masters? It's difficult to imagine where your life will be a year and a half from now, because things don't always happen the way you think. I have certainly learned you can only plan so much.

I've tried to not think so far in advance about my life. I figure, why try to plan that far ahead?

I've learned to enjoy each day as it comes...to be thankful for what I have...and to appreciate the little moments in life.

"magic skills"

To sit patiently with a yearning that has not yet been fulfilled, and to trust that that fulfillment will come, is quite possibly one of the most powerful ‘magic skills’ that human beings are capable of. -Elizabeth Gilbert

series of experiences

What I know for sure is that your life is a multipart series of all your experiences- and each experience is created by your thoughts, intentions, and actions to teach you what you need to know. Your life is a journey of learning to love yourself first and then extending that love to others in every encounter. -Oprah Winfrey

intuition

Intuition is far more than a hunch. It is guidance. It is God speaking through you. And this inner insight should never be taken lightly or ignored.

the newest addition to my family...

I am SO happy. This weekend I drove up to Michigan to meet the newest addition to my family...my nephew, Camden. He is such a good baby. I loved listening to his cues and little baby noises. I am a very proud Auntie and can't wait to see him again.

life's questions & answers

There are years in our lives that ask questions and years that answer. ~Zora Neale Hurston

This is so true.

There have been times when I have asked God, "Why? Why me? What's next?", and didn't receive (or realize) the answers until some time later.

God has plans for us all. We just have to be patient and wait for the answers.

"I would challenge anybody in their darkest moment to write what they're grateful for, even stupid little things like the green grass that made them feel good, the friendly conversation they had with somebody on an elevator. You start to realize how rich you are." - Jim Carrey

I sure needed this today.

I am grateful for...

-a roof over my head
-food on the table
-my health
-my family, especially my mama
-God
-The opportunity to achieve my masters degree

Perfection

Let go of the illusion of perfection; hold fast to the unrelenting intention and pursuit of progress. (thanks J.Penn)

Too often we frustrate ourselves when things in life are not perfect.

Didn't your mother ever tell you, "life is not perfect?" Mine sure did.

However, I am still a perfectionist.

I really needed to read this quote today posted by a good friend.

I hope it makes you stop and appreciate the imperfect things in life.

Because for me, if everything in my past had been perfect, I wouldn't be where I am today and that is...happy.

MORE baby news!

My brother, Jerry, and his girlfriend, Kayla, announced they are having a baby girl due February 19, 2011 (just a day before my birthday).

At the rate my siblings are having children, I am going to have a truckload of nieces and nephews.

I LOVE being an Auntie.

It melts my heart when I see those little hands and feet.

And when I hold them for the first time, gosh, I'm a goner. I'm in love.

I am so ecstatic for my brothers and the lovely women in their lives.

God has truly blessed my family.

Happiness comes only when we push our brains and hearts to the farthest reaches of which we are capable. The purpose of life is to matter, to count, to stand for something, to have it make so difference that we lived at all. ~Leo Buscaglia

Prague or bust!

My mom and I have started this family/girls trip thing.

Two years ago we visited my brother in Vegas (my mom's first flight ever!).

I wrote her about planning our next trip....

She left me a message today about going to Prague in 2012.

Our family is from Prague, so we've always wanted to go and have talked about it.

I'm so excited that we're finally going to start planning (and saving) for this dream trip.

the always changing road called "life"

So many roads, so many detours. So many choices, so many mistakes. As we drive along this road called 'life,' occasionally a gal will find herself a little lost. And when that happens, I guess she has to let go of the "coulda, shoulda, woulda," buckle up, and just keep going. - Sex & the City

Interest vs. Commitment

There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.

Cinderella

Just tell yourself to wait, because Cinderella didn't find her Prince until the end.

regret

We only regret the chances we didn't take, the relationships we were afraid to have, and the decisions we waited too long to make.

Words of wisdom from Oprah...

The whole point of being alive is to evolve into the complete person you were intended to be. Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you. The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is to celebrate. I know for sure that what we dwell on is who we become. Breathe. Let go. And remind yourself that this very moment is the only one you know you have for sure. - Oprah

Looking forward...

Do not look forward in fear to the changes of life; rather look to them with full hope that as they arise. God, whose very own you are, will lead you safely through all things; And when you cannot stand it, God will carry you in His arms. - Saint Frances de Sales

baby baby

Being a woman and unmarried...there is a lot of pressure.

Pressure...to get married and have babies.

Last week in my Marriage & Sexuality class, the professor posed the question:

Does not being a mother make a female feel less of a woman?

Wow! It was a hot topic in class. Every female in the class jumped at the question.

I wouldn't say that I feel like less of a woman, but I do feel like my life is not quite complete yet.

Many women long to experience motherhood.

There is just something so special about becoming a mother for women.

Every week it seems like friends and family members are announcing they're expecting, trying or just had a baby.

I am sincerely happy for them.

At some point though, you begin to feel like the kid who's going to be picked last for kickball.

I know God has a plan for me.

I am extremely grateful for everything in my life now...a great job, graduate school, and people who love me.

Matthew 6:25-26

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. ...Are you not much more valuable than they?" -- Matthew 6:25-26

The man who goes above & beyond...

Every woman wants (and deserves) a man who goes above and beyond for her.

Not saying that women should be treated like spoiled "brats."

Giving a woman a little TLC when she's down or taking care of her when she's sick goes a long way guys.

Women remember these sweet things you do for them.

Keep it up and they will return the favor twofold.

I've been sick, in bed, a total mess, feeling gosh awful all weekend and he has taken care of me the entire time.

Brownie points.

I am so grateful.

A woman's worth

She can deal with stress and carry heavy burdens. She smiles when she feels like screaming and she sings when she feels like crying, she cries when she's happy, and laughs when she's afraid and her love is unconditional. There's just one thing wrong with her......she just forgets what she's worth.

I needed this quote after today. Every woman needs a reminder of her worth and to feel good about herself.

Moving forward: finding humor and romance

A few quotes from the movie, The Wedding Date....

Close your eyes. Close your eyes. Close... your... eyes. You're safe. You can relax. I'm not going to kiss you. He's gonna be so sorry he lost you, so stop worrying. Forget the past. Forget the pain. And remember what an incredible woman you are. You do that and he'll realize what he lost. - Nick

Darling, why spend anymore time on that horse's ass when Mr. Tie-Me-Up-Tie-Me-Down is standing right over there? - TJ

Here's to the husbands who've won you, the losers who've lost you, and the lucky bastards who've yet to meet you.- Nick

Meredith Grey's little girl fairy tale

You know how when you were a little kid and you believed in fairy tales? That fantasy of what your life would be, the white dress, prince charming who would carry you away to a castle on a hill. You would lie in bed at night and close your eyes and you had complete and utter faith ... but eventually you grew up: one day you opened your eyes and the fairy tale disappeared. - Meredith Grey "Grey's Anatomy"

I still have faith. I still believe.

Dead Flowers

Bad memories from the past seem to occur in two's for me. I feel like I can never escape.

It is not my intention to rehash what has been done to me...the hurt and the betrayal. I want to forget it all...even the happy, good memories. Why? Because they were all lies.

Once things seem to be getting better, my life is moving forward and I've forgotten about my past, it pops up out of nowhere to bring back the flood of awful memories.

One might say, "Just get over it already." Those people have never experienced the pain, dishonesty, and disloyalty that I did. I would never wish that kind of hurt on anyone.

Tomorrow's a new day...I pray that it's better.

Perception

We can always choose to perceive things differently. You can focus on what's wrong in your life, or you can focus on what's right. - Williamson

I needed this quote. Thanks to J.Penn for posting. :)

Risks...

If it's still in your mind, it is worth taking the risk. (Cuehlo)

My entire life, I have played it safe.

I was never that kid climbing to the top of trees or jumping off bridges into the lake.

I wasn't a "prissy" girl growing up, I was a safe little girl.

I didn't want to get hurt.

I was afraid.

Today, I am still afraid.

Terrified.

....of heights, bridges, bats, and getting my heart broken.

No matter what you do....

No matter how hard you work at something...

No matter how much of your heart, your love, yourself you give to someone...

...your heart can still be broken.

So, I have protected my heart.

But I can't run away forever, right?

Love can be risky, but if you feel it, then jump.

Dive head first.

If it's real...love will be there to catch you.

Ready for the weekend...

I am so ready for the weekend....Labor Day weekend at that. Too bad the University doesn't give us Labor day off. Oh well. My weekend plans include relaxing, reading for grad classes, baking, then church, BBQ and bags with friends on Sunday.

My weekends lately have consisted of spending time here in Valpo with friends and M.M. I have started to really miss my family back in Michigan. It has been awhile (since July!) that I last saw them. I won't see them again until October because of the University events I am planning to attend and be involved in this month. B-U-S-Y! I'm ready to see them. I know my mama is going crazy not seeing me. October 8-10 will be a great weekend. :)

A few holes in the road...

"I just think that some things are meant to be broken. Imperfect. Chaotic. It's the universe's way of providing contrast, you know? There has to be a few holes in the road. It's how life is." - Sarah Dessen, The Truth About Forever

a stranger's kind words

It is the best feeling to receive kind words from a stranger or someone you barely know.

It's a great reminder of how lucky and truly blessed I am.

Today was hectic and extremely stressful.

When I heard those words of kindness and sincerity said about me and my life, it reminded me to thank God for all the good I have in my life.

Too often we get so wrapped up in the "bad" of our every day lives, that we forget to stop, remember what we have, appreciate it and be thankful for it.

A special thanks to A.F. today for saying such thoughtful and kind words.

Here are a few things her words have reminded me to be thankful for:

- my family
- my friends
- the man in my life
- my job
- my students
- a roof over my head
- food on the table
- my education
- life

What are you thankful for?

Going the distance

When meeting someone or in a relationship, you have to ask yourself...

"will this person go the distance for me?

will this person go the distance with me?"

Two tough questions.

Answer "no" to either question and all deals are off.

As we get older relationships become more meaningful...more serious.

If someone doesn't possess the ability to go the distance for you....then "see ya!"

That to me, is pretty obvious.

The other question whether that person will go the distance with you is a little more difficult for people to grasp.

To me, if the answer is "no", then why stay? Move on.

I want someone who will go both the distance for me and with me.

Simply "dating" is ok for awhile, but ultimately, most people want something with more substance.

You And Your Heart

What is marriage?

Marriage today has several different meanings and purposes.

Views of marriage differ among cultures and society.

Marriage for some women (today) is about...

- a huge engagement ring
- the perfect proposal
- engagement pictures
- unique save-the-dates
- a big beautiful, extravagant wedding gown
- perfect flowers
- perfect hair
- a large wedding with several guests
- expensive limos
- 5 course dinners
- a towering wedding cake
- having children

Overall, it has become more about the wedding DAY, than the actual marriage.

This is so sad.

What does marriage mean to you?

To me, it means a lifetime of partnership, commitment, friendship, passion and love between two people.

A marriage takes dedication, effort, and communication.

Not like I'm an expert, but I do know what I want out of a marriage.

Many young couples get married right out of high school or college, not really knowing what marriage is about or what it means to each other.

Pre-marital counseling can help, but don't skimp on it. Do it for more than just a few sessions.

Couples don't take the time to really answer the tough questions they've avoided in the past or haven't really thought about.

I look at my grandparents with absolute admiration.

50 years of marriage....commitment, love and friendship.

Some couples in today's society can barely make it to 5 years.

Marriage is often a rush to the altar because of family and societal pressures.

I think we need to take a cue from our grandparents...marriage is about love and devotion, not about how much money the other person will bring to the relationship or because you simply want to have children or you want to have your dream wedding.

A marriage is so much more than the material things.

Marriage is about vows of commitment, love, faithfulness, commitment, and growing and changing together.

Marriage & Sexuality

Today was the first day of my Marriage & Sexuality graduate class.

I went in really nervous not knowing what to expect.

I'm a bit of a prude and the thought of discussing sex with strangers is nerve-racking.

With text books titled...

- Body, Sex and Pleasure
- Sexuality & the Sacred
- Families in Transition
- Good Sex
- Sex Goes to School

...one might be a little intimidated.

The scariest thing is the thought of talking about marriage and divorce.

Tonight my Professor asked for a show of hands of those....

- who are married
- who are engaged
- who are in relationships that they are pretty sure will result in marriage

I was praying, as my heart raced, for him to not ask for a show of hands of those who are divorced.

I'm sure I was making some nervous faces, because the Professor didn't ask.

Why wouldn't someone? It's no different really from asking if anyone's married.

It is tip-toed around because it can be a sensitive topic, I guess.

I mean, look at me, my heart was racing, palms sweating at the pure thought of him asking that dreaded question.

I did not want to share that information with my professor and classmates the first day of class.

Not a great first impression. Not the image I want people to remember me as...the divorced woman in class.

The course seems interesting, so I'm looking forward to it.

ways to live your life...

live simply. love generously. care deeply. speak kindly. leave the rest to God.

Victory Over Divorce

Approximately 50% of marriages end in divorce.

No woman ever dreams of becoming part of that statistic.

You buy the white dress.

You walk down the aisle.

You say the vows of commitment.

Sealed with a kiss, you believe you're going to live happily ever after.

It's sad that only 50% of those couples experience that happily every after.

I chose to write this entry not to be pessimistic or a "Debbie Downer" about marriage.

I think marriage is one of the most amazing experiences two people are blessed to share together.

I wrote this entry to help those who are divorced or going through a divorce heal and move forward.

Also to share more about this with those who are not to understand what it's like to experience this.

The reason I started this blog was to help mend my broken heart. I didn't know if it would work, but writing has always been very therapeutic for me.

As a result, my blog has helped me tremendously.

I don't have all the answers about divorce and life after it, but I can speak about my own experience and healing process.

With that, I hope my words will touch someone's life, if only one person.

I want to share this interview on Today about overcoming divorce.

little messages...

It's amazing how just one, small message can make your day. It can set the tone. It can turn it all around.

Words of encouragement...love...praise...and thanks are so great to hear every now and then.

I received one of the sweetest messages this morning. It definitely made my very busy, hectic morning and I was in the best mood all day because of it.

I try to send friends I haven't talked to in awhile a message, letter, card, or text to let them know I'm thinking of them.

I think we often forget about those we care about so much...the people who've been great people in our lives.

Life gets busy with jobs, grad school, moves, family, weddings, and kids.

We have to remind ourselves to pause and take time to tell a friend we miss them...to tell a family member we love them...to make plans to visit friends...to call distant friends and family.

Love...something you can't live without

‎"Love is passion, obsession, something you can't live without. Fall head over heels, find someone who you can love like crazy that will love you the same way back. How do you find them? Well, forget your head and listen to your heart...the truth is, there is no sense living your life without this." - Meet Joe Black

Thursday, August 19, 2010

It's not who...it's when...

But I don't think I will.
You see, I don't want a fling.

I want the real deal.

Forget about the real deal.
You don't find it, it finds you.

What does that mean?
I don't know what that means.

It means that you get to a certain age
and then you're ready.

You know, you're ready for kids
or a commitment or, you know...

You know what I mean?

And the person that you're with then,
they become the one.

So you're saying it's not who, but it's when.

- Definitely Maybe

I agree, it's all about timing in life.

A lot of people come in and go in our lives.

My grandma has always told me, "When you know, you'll know. You'll feel it. It just feels natural...feels right."

It's about when.

The problem many women have is that we're so focused on trying to make every who we meet equal the when.

I may be young, but I've realized in my experiences so far that it's best to just enjoy every moment.

If you get that feeling like my grandma refers to, then your when has found you and you've found your who...."the one."

tying the knot...

...NOT ME!

A student, Rebecca, who worked for me a few years ago, got married last weekend.

Here's the short version of their fairytale romance...

American college girl travels to Germany to study abroad.

She meets a dashing young French man.

They fall in love.

Have a long-distance romance for 3 years.

He pops the big question.

She says yes.

They get married and live happily ever after.

Every woman's dream right there.

Wow. I am in complete awe of their relationship.

When I received the wedding invitation in the mail, there was no doubt about it...I was going.

I couldn't pass up seeing these two young people, head over heels in love with each other, exchange marriage vows.

The wedding was absolutely beautiful and completely Cyril and Rebecca.

I am happy beyond words for these two.

I believe you can just look at two people and instantly know if they belong together.

God made these two for each other. That is obvious.

I am envious of their young and adoring love for one another.

I wish them a lifetime of happiness, adventure and love.

Congratulations Cyril & Rebecca!

Just a ball game...

Life is pretty simple really. You throw the ball, you hit the ball, you catch the ball. half the time you win, half the time you lose, and sometimes it rains. (borrowed from an old friend)

Meet The Parents

Palms sweaty.

Knees shaking.

Heart racing.

Knots in stomach.

Will they like me?

What if they don't?

What if I totally embarrass myself?

The movie, Meet The Parents, runs through my head.

It can't be that bad. It won't.

For the first time in over 5 years, I met the parents (well, actually a lot of the family).

After changing my clothes 3 times, we made the drive out there.

It was silent in the car.

All I could hear was my heart beating and the wind blowing alongside the car.

We pulled into the driveway.

Good luck, here goes nothing.

As we got out of the car, I began to second-guess my outfit (again).

Just be yourself.

I made it through introductions.

Next up, family fun.

As I stepped up to hit my first golf ball in front of people I just met, my heart beat faster than on the way there.

Dear God, please let me hit this ball straight and not straight through the house window.

I get nervous just hitting in front of strangers at the driving range.

This...this was nerve racking.

Those golf lessons paid off though.

Full swing, hit and straight ahead.

Pfew! Thank you God.

The rest of the day was pretty smooth sailing after that.

Successful conversation with Mom. Check.

Homemade chocolate chip cookies were a hit. Check.

Hug & kiss from his adorable niece. Check.

It is amazing how one life event, such as meeting the parents, can have such a strong impact on you and your relationship.

You can tell a lot about someone....

You can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles four things:

1. a rainy day
2. the elderly
3. lost luggage
4. tangled Christmas tree lights

Satisfied...

If you love somebody
You better let it out
Don't hold it back
While you're trying to figure it out
Don't be timid
Don't be afraid to hurt
Run toward the flame
Run toward the fire
Hold on for all your worth
Cause the only real pain a heart can ever know
Is the sorrow of regret
When you don't let your feelings show

So did you say it
Did you mean it
Did you lay it on the line
Did you make it count
Did you look 'em in the eye
Did they feel it
Did you say it in time
Did you say it out loud
'cause if you did hun
Then you lived some
That feeling inside
That's called satisfied

Busy people walking by
Can't help but worry some
With so many things to do
So little love gets done
Empty hearts everywhere
Drowning but dying of thirst
If you want love
It's not that tough
Start by giving it first
It's so easy to give
Baby can't you see
Just close your eyes open your heart
And do what comes naturally

Well did you say it
Did you mean it
Did you lay it on the line
Did you make it count
Did you look 'em in the eye
Did they feel it
Did you say it in time
Did you say it out loud
'cause if you did hun
Then you lived some
That feeling inside
That's called satisfied

Horses are built to run
The sun is meant to shine above
Flowers are made to bloom
And then there's us
We were born to love

The lies we tell ourselves...

The worst lies are the lies we tell ourselves. We live in denial of what we do, even what we think. We do this because we're afraid. We fear we will not find love, and when we find it we fear we'll lose it. We fear that if we do not have love we will be unhappy. - Bach

We are so focused on finding that "happily ever after," but does it really exist?

I hate to be a "Debbie downer," but I don't think it does.

Nothing in life is perfect. There are trials and tribulations along the way.

I feel strongly that God puts those bumps and forks in the road to make us stronger...to make us stop and think...make tough decisions...and learn from the mistakes we make.

I would love to experience a "happily ever after" ending, but for now, I am focusing my energy to enjoy the present and the "almost perfect" in my life.

If you find love, don't fear it, accept it, enjoy it and be open to it.

I've learned you can't run away from anything good that happens in your life simply because you've experienced a lot of bad in the past.

Not all things are connected.

Not everything will have the same result.

Be honest with yourself about what you want in your life.

Be open to love.

A little reminder from Corinthians 13:4-7

‎"Love is patient and kind;...love is not jealous, or conceited, or proud; love is not ill-mannered, or selfish, or irritable; love does not keep a record of wrongs; love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth. Love never gives up: its faith, hope and patience never fail." -Corinthians 13:4-7

Love and heart break...

"It's still two human beings trying to get along, so it's going to be complicated. And love is always complicated. But humans must try to love each other...We must get our hearts broken sometimes. This is a good sign, having a broken heart. It means we have tried for something." -Elizabeth Gilbert (Eat, Pray, Love)

A little Proverb wisdom

The course of true love never runs smoothly. -Proverb

Happiness...

‎"Happiness is the consequence of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, & sometimes travel around the world looking for it. You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestations of your own blessings. Once you have achieved a state of happiness, you must never become lax about maintaining it. You must make a mighty effort to keep swimming upward into that happiness forever..." -Gilbert

If you're going to be a bear...be a grizzly.

“You cannot learn from my mistakes, you’re going to have to go out there and make your own. You can get your heart broken, or you can have the greatest love affair the world has ever known. But you’re not going to know unless you try. Passion is in the risk. If you’re going to be a bear, be a grizzly.“ – When in Rome

life...

You only get one life to live, so give it your all.

Don't let your insecurities get the best of you.

Stop and smell the flowers...

feel the wind blow through your hair...

tell those you love, you love them...

run barefoot through the grass...

lay under the stars snuggled up with the one you love.

Life is too short.

Enjoy the simple things and let in the great opportunities presented to you.

Awe....

Homemade dinner brought to my office, because I'm working late, has to be about the sweetest thing I've experienced.

It was a nice reminder of how women should be treated.

It has been awhile since I've experienced sweet, just because gestures.

When you're good to a woman, she'll be even better to you.

Stuck Like Glue

My new favorite song....check it out!

Listen to Sugarland’s Stuck Like Glue FREE

MMMM better…MMMM better…
Absolutely no one that knows me better
No one that can make me feel sooo goooood
How did we stay so long together?
When everybody, everybody said we never would
And just when I, I start to think they’re right
That love has died…

Chorus:
There you go making my heart beat again,
heart beat again,
heart beat again
There you go making me feel like a kid
Won’t you do it and do it one time?
There you go pulling me right back in,
right back in,
right back in
And i know-oo I’m never letting this go-ooo

I’m stuck on you
Whutooo whutooo
Stuck like glue
You and me baby we’re stuck like glue
Whutooo whutooo
Stuck like glue
You and me baby we’re stuck like glue

Some days I don’t feel like trying
Some days you know I wanna just give up
When it doesn’t matter who’s right, thought about it all night
Had enough
You give me that look
“I’m sorry baby let’s make up”
You do that thing that makes me laugh
And just like that…

Chorus:
There you go making my heart beat again,
heart beat again,
heart beat again
There you go making me feel like a kid
Won’t you do it and do it one time
There you go pulling me right back in,
right back in,
right back in
And i know-oo I’m never letting this go-ooo

I’m stuck on you
Whutooo whutooo
Stuck like glue
You and me baby we’re stuck like glue
Whutooo whutooo
Stuck like glue
You and me baby were stuck like glue

Whutooo Whutoo

You almost stay out, too stuck together from the ATL
Whutooo Whutoo
Feeling kinda sick?
Just a spoon full of sugar make it better real quick

I say
Whutooo Whutoo
Whatcha gonna do with that?
Whutooo Whutoo
Come on over here with that
Sugar sticky sweet stuff
Come on give me that stuff
Everybody wants some
melodies that get stuck

Up in your head
whutooo whutooo

Up in your head
whutooo whutooo

Up in your head
whutooo whutooo

Up in your head
whutooo whutooo
whuthoo whutooo
Stuck like glue
You and me together, say, it’s all I wanna do
I said

Chorus:
There you go making my heart beat again,
heart beat again,
heart beat again
There you go making me feel like a kid
Won’t you do it and do it one time
There you go pulling me right back in,
right back in,
right back in
And i know-oo I’m never letting this go-ooo

There you go making my heart beat again,
heart beat again,
heart beat again
There you go making me feel like a kid
Won’t you do it and do it one time
There you go pulling me right back in,
right back in,
right back in
And i know-oo I’m never letting this go-ooo
I’m stuck on you

Whutooo whutooo
Stuck like glue
You and me baby we’re stuck like glue
Whutooo whutooo
Stuck like glue
You and me baby were stuck like glue
Whutooo whutooo
stuck like glue
you and me baby we’re stuck like glue

missing someone...

Missing someone isn’t about how long it’s been since you’ve seen them last or the amount of time since you’ve talked. It’s about that very moment when you’re doing something, and you wish that they were right there with you. - Marcin Mrowca

"If you love someone you say it, you say it right then, out loud, or the moment just passes you by." - My Best Friend's Wedding

holding back...

"The only reason we hold back is because we think we have an endless amount of chances or that there will always be one more. But as time disappears into the past and life goes on, those chances will run out. ...And you'll either live with eternal happiness for being brave, or eternal regret for holding back." - Marcin Mrowca

the story

"Maybe for once it’s not about the happy ending, Maybe it’s about the story." - Marcin Mrowca

The best kind of love...

"The best kind of love is the kind that awakens the soul, makes us reach for more, plants a fire in our hearts, and brings peace to our minds." - The Notebook

Don't Be Afraid To Fall In Love Again....

Gerry Kennedy:

Dear Holly,

I don't have much time. I don't mean literally, I mean you're out buying ice cream and you'll be home soon. But I have a feeling this is the last letter, because there is only one thing left to tell you. It isn't to go down memory lane or make you buy a lamp, you can take care of yourself without any help from me. It's to tell you how much you move me, how you changed me. You made me a man, by loving me Holly. And for that, I am eternally grateful... literally. If you can promise me anything, promise me that whenever you're sad, or unsure, or you lose complete faith, that you'll try to see yourself through my eyes. Thank you for the honor of being my wife. I'm a man with no regrets. How lucky am I. You made my life, Holly. But I'm just one chapter in yours. There'll be more. I promise. So here it comes, the big one. Don't be afraid to fall in love again. Watch out for that signal, when life as you know it ends.

P.S. I will always love you

I absolutely love Gerry's character in the movie, P.S. I Love You. I wish all men were as sincere and so madly deeply in love with the woman in their life.

A privilege...to grow old with someone

"We're so arrogant, aren't we? So afraid of age, we do everything we can to prevent it. We don't realize what a privilege it is to grow old with someone." - P.S. I Love You

I agree.

Many people today don't take marriage as seriously as our grandparents.

I think the luckiest people are those who find their soul mate...the person God handpicked for them to spend the rest of their life with...to grow old with.

I hope to experience such luck some day.

What do women want?

From one of my favorite movies, P.S. I Love You...

Daniel: “i don’t mean to throw this at you from left field…but what do women want ? i mean…i can’t figure it out . they want us to ask ; they don’t want us to ask . they want us to make a move ; they don’t want us to make a move . they want us to be at the bottom ; they want us to be on top . use hair products ; don’t use hair products . what…do…you…people…want ?”

Holly: “i’ll tell you but you have to promise not to say that i told you”

Daniel: “i swear”

Holly: “cause it’s a scared secret”

Daniel: (nods) “sacred secret”

Holly: “you ready?”

Daniel: “yeah”

Holly: “you sure?”

Daniel: “i think so”

Holly: “okay , come here – we have absolutely no idea what we want”

Isn't that so true ladies? We think we know what we want, but when it really comes down to it, we have no clue.

Babies R (for) Us, but not you....yet

There I was, surrounded by bibs, pacifiers, cribs, diapers, strollers, little dresses, and little shoes...my heart sunk.

I felt extremely out of place.

Women with "basketball bellies" and husbands toting closely behind were around every corner, down every aisle.

I felt like a fake.

I felt like a wannabe....

but I am.

My eyes began to well up.

My mom was somewhere close, I didn't want her to see me.

I couldn't help but imagine the thoughts running through her head being in this Costco of baby supplies.

I'm sure she was wondering when her only daughter would finally be shopping here for herself? for her baby-to-be?

27, divorced and forced to start over.

Yes, I know I am still young.

In my family though, I'm way past due.

There are a lot of pressures.

I'm used to getting the we-feel-sorry-for-you-looks now.

I chose to focus on my education and my career rather than marriage and having children.

I plan to do it all though. Some day.

My sister-in-law, AKA super wife & mother, said the sweetest thing to me this week though...

"You are gonna make a great wife and mother. People can see that as soon as they meet you."

I absolutely admire her.

"The" Guy

A guy who calls you beautiful instead of hot.

Who calls you back when you hang up on him.

Who will lay under the stars and listen to your heartbeat.

Or will stay awake just to watch you sleep.

Wait for the boy who kisses your forehead.

Who wants to show you off to the world when you are in sweats.

Who holds your hand in front of his friends.

Who thinks you're just as pretty without makeup.

One who is constantly reminding you of how much he cares and how lucky he is to have you.

The one who turns to his friends and says 'that's her'.

Love hard...

You aren't going to be her first, maybe not her last, or her only.

She's loved before, she will love again, but if she loves you now what else matters?

She's not perfect. You aren't either, and the two of you will never be perfect.

But if she can make you laugh at least once, causes you to think twice, and admits to being human and making mistakes, hold on to her and give her the most you can.

She isn't going to quote poetry, she's not thinking about you every moment, but she will give you a part of her that she knows you could break.

Don't hurt her, don't change her, and don't expect more than she can give. Don't analyze.

Smile when she makes you happy, yell when she makes you mad, and miss her when she's not there.

Love hard when there is love to be had.
