This morning's church sermon was truly inspiring. A reading from Mark 5:1-20 taught us about change...the changes we can make for ourselves with the help of Jesus.
Every new year leads people to make resolutions...to lose weight, to be a better husband/wife/friend/child/sibling/Christian, to save more money, to drink less, to spend more time with family, to have more patience, etc.
Some of the most important changes are made through small steps for a better year...a better life.
As Pastor Ben Lamb shared this morning, there are a few small changes we can all start with....
1. put an end to something.
2. forgive someone.
3. forgive yourself.
I left church this morning feeling great and excited about 2011.

Happy new year!!!
With every new year comes new year resolutions, so here are a few of mine....
1. start running again.
2. save money.
3. call friends & family more often.
4. declutter my life (again).
5. enjoy the little moments in life...every day.
6. read more.
7. write more blog posts.
Here's hoping 2011 will bring much love, happiness, luck and wellness.

Christmas 2010
Christmas 2010 was spent with family. This year's Christmas was special.
My sister, Amanda, got married, December 30, 2010. Her husband just finished bootcamp with the Air Force. They will be moving to North Dakota in February.
My baby brother, Jerry, surprised us all by coming home for my sister's wedding. He is stationed in CA with the Marines. Jerry and Kayla are expecting their first baby this February...a baby girl, Jade.
I was also able to see my brother, Bill, who is in the Navy and stationed in CA. I hadn't seen him in almost a year.

I also got to spend a day shopping for bridesmaid dresses with my good friend/sorority sister, Amber. She is tying the knot in October this year. I am so honored to be in her wedding. I'm glad our parents only live 15 minutes from each other, so when we're both in from out of state, we can see each other. :)
Seeing my niece/God daughter, Ella, is always one of my favorite parts of my trips to Michigan (sorry everyone). Seeing her just makes me smile and it warms my heart to hear her laugh.

my "fscore"
I saw this on a friend's blog and thought I'd check it out (she and I had the same results).
check out: http://sallyhogshead.com/fscoreq1/ for your results. How are YOU fascinating?
Below are my results. Pretty interesting....
YOUR PRIMARY TRIGGER: LUST
So lust is your primary trigger. That means you draw people closer with a warm and open style of interaction. You’re expressive with ideas, communicate well in person, and probably have a strong creative streak. Even when you mask your emotions, you feel passionately about your opinions.
You’re intuitive with information, often making decisions based on gut instinct rather than cold intellect. While other personality types prefer facts, you’re more attuned to the nuances of attitude, design, and a certain indefinable je ne sais quoi.
Lust is a powerful form of influence because it creates irresistible messages that overcome rational resistance. When you dial up your primary trigger, you have the ability to create messages that are extremely difficult to ignore.
You’re remarkably talented in creating messages that lead to a powerful intellectual, physical, and emotional response. For instance, you like to share experiences with others, and in conversation, you draw people closer with body language and eye contact.
By applying these natural strengths to your work, you can build warmer relationships and more trusting dialogue. And by applying to your ideas, you can create messages make people say, “I want that now!”

YOUR SECONDARY TRIGGER: MYSTIQUE
If mystique is your secondary trigger, you’re intriguing. Very. You make people curious to learn more, because they want to find out what makes you tick. You reveal personal information carefully, if at all.
Mystique sparks an intense desire to know more, hinting at possibilities without putting it all on the table. By activating this trigger, you entice people to seek out more about your message.
Because you reveal so little, people might have trouble knowing what you’re thinking and feeling, which can come across as cold. You might benefit from sharing your ideas more openly, and giving people more ways to engage with you. And, along the way, you’ll want to avoid sneakiness or mind games.
Curious about your natural ability to make others curious? Mystique is delicate balance to be sure, but once achieved, you’re nothing short of mesmerizing.

YOUR DORMANT TRIGGER: ALARM
Laid-back and easygoing, you probably make friends easily, and make others comfortable. Your personality is probably relying more on trust or lust as main triggers, rather than the urgency and focus of alarm.
On the downside, without the presence of alarm in your personal brand, it’s quite possible you’re coming across as a bit wishy-washy. A judiciously zest of alarm adds a sense of urgency to your requests. In FASCINATE, you’ll learn how to intelligently apply alarm, motivating others sit up and take notice now.

true admiration
There are people in my life I truly admire. I am nowhere near as brave or as motivated as them. I'd like to be. It reminds me to live my dreams and to never settle again.
Christmas cards and letters from friends and family displaying pictures of their beautiful children and writing about the wonderful things happening in their lives and marriages have been flooding my mailbox. I am happy for them. I envy them. I admire them. What they have is what I've always wanted.
When my life was suddenly turned upside down last year, it forced me to reevaluate. I learned that yes, I want to be a mother and a wife, but there are many other things that I haven't achieved yet that I want to accomplish.
While I am reminded by friends and family that life does pause for you to go and live an adventurous life - parenthood can't be put on the back burner...forever (at least not for a woman), I realize that there are things in my life I need and want to do first (next).
Today I received a different Christmas letter from a friend. Rather than being about babies, weddings, or buying a house, it was about plans for a Christmas adventure - traveling, whale watching, and tent-camping on the beach. I thought, "Wow! I admire him." This was a different admiration than I have for those people who are married and expecting or with children.
How does someone (a woman) combine both dreams for life? I don't know....yet, but I plan to do it.
