I'm back from Jamaica!

Ahhhh! I'm back.

I've been MIA, because I've been in JAMAICA. We returned late last night. I cannot wait to share more about our trip. My brother, Mark, got married. We also got a little vacation in while we were there. A vacation is never long enough though.

Oh, and a I crossed another thing off my bucket list while I was there. :)

I've spent the day digging my way out of work emails and phone calls to return. It is insane returning to work after a vacation!

I will post more about the trip soon with PICTURES. It was beautiful and relaxing. Just what I needed. Stay tuned for more about Jamaica, mon!

my first modeling gig

So, today, I crossed something off my bucket list......for a few hours, I got to be a model.

I always thought, "oh, it would be nice to do", but never actually pursued it. It was a lot of fun. I am so glad I did it. In years past, I would have turned this opportunity down - insecure and shy. Here's how this opportunity presented itself.....

Tuesday night, I am at our college men's basketball game, like 3,000 people or so there, I am walking back to my seat (in the nose bleed section) and a girl approaches me. She is young, nicely dressed and says, we are looking for a girl with long hair like yours for a photo shoot we are doing this Thursday. I'm thinking, "yeah, right, sure...." I took her business card and gave her my info, thinking nothing of it.

After scoping out their website, I decided I was going to email them about the photo shoot to decide if I wanted to do it. They asked for a couple a couple expressionless photos for hair & make-up along with my measurements.

The email came back from the company owner/President saying they would love to have me for the shoot. Ahhhhh! So excited and nervous at the same time.

29 has certainly sparked something inside of me. I am definitely LIVING life now. I took a leap of faith and worked a half day (I never use my vacation days for just ME) for the shoot. This was such an amazing experience and I am blessed to have been given it.

my "head shot"....haha! (taken in my office w/my iphone) that landed me the gig

The next few pics are just me snapping a few photos of my hair & make-up after the shoot in my car...

The Anderson's Journey to Elsa

I came across this amazing blog through another blog I follow. This couple is absolutely amazing. I am in total awe of them. They are a family of 8....yes, 8!

I watched their adoption story video and was in tears. Maybe I will adopt some day. I've never really given it any thought before, but after reading and watching this couple's story as truly inspired me.

You have to check it out for yourself.....

All I Do Is Win.....

At 29, women are either married, having children or are engaged.
Me, none of the above, and I am ok with that.
My due date: May 20, 2012 (my graduation date for grad school)
My baby's name: Master of Arts in Liberal Studies.
My reception will be held in my boyfriend's backyard with my close friends and family, eating southern cooking - my personal favorite.
There will be no fancy invitations or gifts necessary.
Just a day to celebrate my 2 years of hard work and dedication to my education to further my career.
Don't worry, I will post pictures of my big day. :)
To me, that is certainly worth a blog post.

Cue the music......

Feelin' tough

Ladies, do you ever wonder why men love those action movies full of shooting, blood, guns, fast cars, etc? Well, I think I finally understood it last night.

For my Ethics class, we watched the movie, 3:10 to Yuma, a western, made in 2007. My first thought, oh gosh, another western? In this class we watch a movie and evaluate and analyze the ethics or lack thereof in it in a paper every week. We have watched some amazing movies that I've never seen before. Last night was by far the best. If you've never seen this movie, I highly recommend it.

I walked out of there feeling tough. I finally understood why guys like these movies. It gives them this high, feeling like a bad ass.

When I feel like this or when I've had a rough day, I workout. Here are a few pics I found on Pinterest to help keep me motivated and feeling like a bad ass.

Forget girl push-ups....do "Powerful Woman, kick-your-ass" push-ups.

Don’t hate her because she’s beautiful, hate her because she kicks so much ass.

shut it

Stephanie over at love, life and babies has a great post today. So great, that I had to share.

Today I definitely needed this reminder. Reading Stephanie's post really helped calm me and put my mind and heart at ease. I had a rough day.

Like many people, I too, often times say too much. A lot of people like to talk about work and what do a lot of us do when we talk about work? Brag or complain.

On my bad days, I know it's best to just shut it - not share it. No one wants a Negative Nancy anyway

Hurtful words are sometimes said in the heat of the moment.
Gossip is an easy filler during an awkward silence.
Saying unnecessary things are just that, unnecessary.

At the end of the day, God is who I want to be right with.
