May 20, 2012...grad school graduation and an engagement!

Sunday, May 20, 2012 was the BEST day of my life.

1. I graduated with my Masters degree.
2. I got ENGAGED!!!!!

Yes, y'all read that right. Here's a picture recap of the AMAZing day.....

After my family headed home, Matt and I took our dog, Ellie, for a walk on the beach. 

It was just the three of us.

There was a thunderstorm brewing. 

Lightning and rain in the distance.

The sun was peeking through the clouds in the center of the sky over Lake Michigan. 

We started heading back down the beach.

Matt called my name and I turned around. 

He was down on his knee on the beach with a stunning ring in his hand.

I dropped to my knees after he said, 

"Nikki, I love you...will you marry me?"

(well, that's all I remember hearing...I was so surprised)

Ellie sat right next to us in the sand as we hugged and kissed each other, tears rolling down our cheeks.

Afterward, we watched the sun set as lightning hit in the distance. 

As soon as we got in the car, it started pouring rain.  

It was beautiful.

The best day of my life. 

God has blessed me so much these last two years. 

After thinking my life was in ruins two and a half years ago...

I now realize that God simply had plans to make my life better. 

I just had to be patient. 

Pray.

Be faithful.

And remember, God loves me.
