Masters degrees

Article: Study says masters degrees make American workforce competitive

Today's post isn't about love, heels or little black dresses. Instead, it is about something I am even more passionate about: education.

My friends and family will tell you that I am extremely driven when it comes to my career and the world of education. I love my job - helping students through the college process. My younger brothers have even "prepped" girls they have brought home about me and the questions I will ask about their education and life goals. Ha ha! Am I that intimidating?

I simply believe that as a woman, it is very important to be educated. The work force is competitive and women need to bring their A game in order to stay in the game and be a key player. Education is essential for everyone, but especially women.

I will begin working on my MA in Liberal Studies next week. I am doing an individualized concentration within that masters degree program. So, I will be taking a combination of Business, Communication, Counseling and Education classes to create my own higher ed administration masters program.

Working in the Education field, especially higher ed, a masters degree is essential in order to advance. My goal: to become a college Dean. Wish me luck! It has been over 5 years since I was in school. Eek!
