...That was what the sermon was about today at my church.
I know everyone walks away thinking differently about the meaning or message of a sermon.
There was one line the Pastor said this morning that really stuck out to me....
"Real Christians love even those (people) who do not like or love them back."
Wow.
I simply cannot get the thought of unconditional love out of my head.
Love.
It's a powerful word.
This post is not necessarily about religion or Christian faith. It is about love.
Wikipedia's definition:
Love is any of a number of emotions related to a sense of strong affection and attachment. The word love can refer to a variety of different feelings, states, and attitudes, ranging from generic pleasure ("I loved that meal") to intense interpersonal attraction ("I love my wife"). This diversity of uses and meanings, combined with the complexity of the feelings involved, makes love unusually difficult to consistently define, even compared to other emotional states.
Love is not logical, it is a feeling.
We sometimes "fall in love" with people who seem totally wrong for us.
So, do you follow your head or your heart?
Do you do what you think is best? or what you feel is best?
I like this guy's essay on the topic: http://www.mikelee.org/love-is-not-logical.html
Unconditional love.
If someone loves you unconditionally, hold on to them.
I feel like unconditional love, along with falling in love with your heart and not your head...are rarities.
