What Holds Us Together?

Wow!

I was shocked to receive some very sad news this morning.

A friend of mine, married for 20+ years is getting a divorce.

She knows that I recently went through a divorce and still working through it all.

I'm glad she felt that she could come to me.

That's what people need most when going through something like this...to let it out...to talk to someone who won't judge them.

"I've been married too long for a divorce," she said.

It breaks my heart when two people who have been married for so long, who have children together, who have shared/built a life together, divorce.

"We're traveling on two different paths in life," he told her.

I believe people give up way too easily when things get tough or when they think the grass is greener.

My heart goes out to this couple and I pray that they find love and happiness again.

I couldn't imagine being married since I was 18 and then after 20+ years of marriage, my husband wanting to throw it all away.

For what?

There's a deeper reason behind what he's telling her. I know it.

It is moments like this that make me think twice about marriage.

It's scary.

But what in life isn't scary?

When I do get married again, I want to get it right.

But how do you know if you've gotten it right?

What holds us together?
